The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) continues its virtual meetings with its partners in military defense, security, and R&T.

GAMI continues its virtual meetings with its stakeholders in military defense, security, and R&T, through two webinars in which it met with representatives from Universities, Research Centers and Institutes, and relevant local industry companies.

Virtual workshops on research and technical activities in the military and security fields empower the Sector and develop national industries, research, technology and competencies, by providing incentives and facilities to support universities and research centers to accelerate the development of national competencies. Thus, it contributes to national economic diversification by enhancing non-oil revenue and to the Sector’s direct contribution to GDP by 2030.

Over the past two days, GAMI organized two virtual workshops, in which it met with its partners from Universities, applied science Colleges, Research Centers and specialized national Laboratories, and other relevant local industrial companies. The workshop reviewed the most significant developments in R&T with related entities and worked to build national capabilities by strengthening the national policy for research, development and innovation in the Defense Sector by regulating tasks, uniting efforts, stimulating the process of improving human capital, and working with the relevant entities to align education outcomes with the Sector's demands. Moreover, these workshops addressed the need to increase the contribution of local products based on R&D to military spending in the Kingdom to achieve the goals of Vision2030.

 

Military Industry Sector Deputy Governor Gasem Al-Maimani affirmed that the Authority aims to build communication and cooperation between all its concerned partners to improve the added value in the Sector. He also added that all involved partners are in the process of enhancing their services and activities to keep pace with the Kingdom’s Sector strategy, which will be announced soon. He went on to stress that the Authority continues to renew the robust legislative framework for the Sector, which includes the interdependencies between all stakeholders, paves the way for collaboration opportunities and encourages investment in the Sector in general.

“We are keen to ensure the functioning of the Authority by activating its roles in the Sector despite the challenges we are going through due to the pandemic”, said Al-Maimani, indicating that thankfully the Authority was able, to organize four virtual workshops, during the past two weeks. GAMI also met with their partners from the military and security entities, as well as those who are involved in military R&T domains. As for permits, initiatives and facilities provided, they are by the Authority to support and empower the Sector during the pandemic and beyond.

The two virtual workshops recently hosted by GAMI were organized with the intention of shedding light on the R&T plans and their interdependencies with relevant stakeholders, educating end-users about R&T plans in the Kingdom, and hearing their views and opinions.

It should be noted that the two virtual workshops were attended by roughly 100 representatives from Universities, applied sciences Colleges, Research Centers, and specialized national Laboratories, as well as several representatives of relevant local industrial companies.
