Governor of GAMI Inaugurates BAE Systems Arabian Industries

Today, His Excellency Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), inaugurated BAE Systems Arabian Industries company, marking a significant step towards supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and enhancing the localization of domestic military spending. This event took place during an official ceremony held at the company's new headquarters in Riyadh, attended by several dignitaries and leaders in the defense industry. In his speech during the inauguration ceremony, His Excellency the Governor of GAMI said: “The launch of BAE Systems Arabian Industries represents a qualitative step forward in enhancing local content and building national capabilities in the military industries sector." He pointed out that "the launch of the company’s operations comes within the framework of enabling the sector and unifying efforts aimed at localizing military spending and building an integrated system that combines training, capacity development, and supply chain management under one umbrella." He added that "the integration of national and international expertise into this unified entity embodies the confidence of major companies in the attractive investment environment provided by GAMI in cooperation with its partners in the public and private sectors, and contributes directly to the transfer of knowledge and the enhancement of national competencies, in line with the goals of localizing military spending by more than 50% by 2030.” His Excellency affirmed the GAMI's support for such unique initiatives that enhance local content and open up broad horizons for national and international companies to contribute to building a solid and sustainable military-industrial system. He also highlighted the integrated work undertaken by GAMI with its partners from the public and private sectors, and the efforts it is undertaking to expand cooperation with major global and local companies, and to transfer and localize advanced technologies, enabling companies to contribute to the localization process. During his tour of the company's facilities, attended by a number of dignitaries and leaders from the Kingdom's military industries sector, His Excellency Eng. Al-Ohali was briefed on the supply chain, capacity building, shared services, and workflow at the training academy. This strategic launch for BAE Systems Arabian Industries comes as a result of the merger of two Saudi companies previously known as: BAE Systems Saudi Development and Training Company (SDT), which specializes in building and providing capabilities, and the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC), a leader in supply chain management and technical services. For his part, Dr Abdulatif Al Shaikh, CEO OF BAE Systems Arabian Industries, valued the presence of His Excellency the Governor of GAMI and the inauguration of the company's headquarters. He emphasized that this launch represents a qualitative shift in the company's journey to support national industry. He noted that the company seeks to provide added value by focusing on localization, building competencies, and developing strategic partnerships, while adhering to the highest standards of operational excellence. Al Shaikh added: "Today, we are launching an integrated national platform aimed at industrial development, knowledge transfer, and enhancing the Kingdom's strategic independence in the defense sector, leveraging our expertise and history spanning more than a quarter century in developing national cadres and ensuring supply chains in this vital and important sector. The launch of the new company comes at a time of accelerating development in the Saudi military industries sector.
